The Trading System Engineer plays a critical role in this transformation, responsible for leading the design, development, and maintenance of high-performance, low-latency trading systems and infrastructure. This role ensures the stability, scalability, and efficiency of trading enablement platforms, directly supporting the firm's competitive edge in global financial markets. A blend of deep technical expertise, leadership skills, and understanding of financial trading workflows is essential.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Strategic & Leadership Responsibilities: Define and execute technical roadmap for trading systems infrastructure; provide technical leadership and drive system modernization and performance optimization.
- Architecture & System Design: Lead design and architecture of trading systems; oversee integration of components and ensure cohesive architecture.
- Operational Excellence: Ensure system stability and reliability; lead root-cause analysis and resolution of complex issues.
- Trading Platform Support & Incident Management: Act as escalation owner for high-severity incidents; guide troubleshooting and collaborate to maintain monitoring procedures.
- Automation & Tooling: Champion automation of processes and implement monitoring tools.
- Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with teams across the organization to understand requirements and deliver enhancements.
- Governance, Compliance & Risk: Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and maintain documentation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
- Relevant certifications in low-latency systems, cloud engineering, networking, or DevOps are advantageous.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5-7 years in software engineering, with at least 2-3 years developing and supporting high-frequency or low-latency trading systems.
- Proven leadership experience, including people management and technical mentorship.
- Experience with FIX engines, pricing engines, APIs, and market-connectivity gateways is highly desirable.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong understanding of trading workflows and market structure.
- Expertise in system monitoring, performance tuning, and low-latency engineering.
- Proficient with Linux, networking, messaging systems, and automation tools.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and distributed architectures.
