Position

The company is looking for an amazingly talented Senior Business Development Manager to join our team! In this role you will provide business development leadership and direction for one geographic location or a specific market sector over a broader geographic area. You will understand business negotiations and recognize and act upon opportunities to promote the company's expertise and successful past performance. This position may require extensive travel to cultivate new and ongoing business development endeavors. Typical responsibilities include managing important client accounts and overseeing large, complex proposal/project activities.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Establishing and maintaining client contacts and developing sales strategy. Strengthening current business ties; coordinating meetings between clients/potential clients and technical or key individuals.
  • Keeping abreast of overall business trends, particularly the current business climate.
  • Conducting surveys to determine promising areas of development.
  • Establishing and maintaining numerous contacts within and outside the industry.
  • Following up in a timely manner on all possible leads.
  • Developing proposals for services in response to invitations to bid and providing guidance to the proposal team from inception to completion.
  • Developing the pricing structure, as well as other contract terms and conditions.
  • Negotiating contracts, including secrecy agreements and joint venture agreements.
  • Acting as sponsor for foreign agent representative(s); negotiating and maintaining agent agreements.
  • Acting as sponsor during project execution.
  • Performing other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Business (or equivalent).
  • 10-15+ years diversified experience, primarily within the business development realm of a large, multinational company (5-10 years focused on business development).
  • Seasoned capture management professional.
  • Experience in commercial bid management and client relationship/interface management.
  • Thorough understanding of proposal pricing, contract terminology, negotiations with potential clients, and the company's policies and business objectives.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including excellent presentation skills.
  • Exceptional ability to represent the company favorably, develop new clients, and negotiate with key members of other firms.
