Senior Corporate Counsel

About the Role
The Senior Corporate Counsel will play a key role in the company's Legal team, working with cross-functional groups across the company and externally on regulatory and compliance-related issues in the Middle East. This position will report to the company's London-based head of Privacy, EMEA and will be based in the company's offices in Dubai. You will liaise closely with Employment Legal, Global Ethics & Integrity, and Cybersecurity Legal teams, partnering closely with various departments including Security, Technology & Product, Government Affairs, Compliance, Communications, Marketing, and Employee Success.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Regional Privacy, Cybersecurity, Data & AI Regulatory Expertise: Serve as a subject matter expert on Middle Eastern privacy and cybersecurity laws, including emerging AI regulations, while monitoring the regulatory landscape and advising on its implications.
• Commercial & Customer Support: Collaborate with Commercial Legal and Cybersecurity Legal on negotiations, draft and negotiate related agreements, and address customer and partner inquiries regarding governance.
• Enhance Ethical Culture & Business Practices: Assist management in identifying compliance risks and implementing monitoring efforts, conduct policy gap analyses, and support various compliance programs.
• Employment Legal Compliance: Partner with internal stakeholders on employment policies and documentation, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Cross-Functional Partnership: Act as a liaison between legal, technical, and business teams, translating regulatory requirements into practical guidance.
• Process Efficiency, Innovation & Enablement: Identify legal process improvements and champion the use of AI tools to enhance workflows and productivity.
• Lead & Deliver at Speed: Provide rapid, business-savvy legal advice while minimizing legal and operational risks.
• Dispute Resolution & Risk Mitigation: Advise on contract disputes, bid challenges, and regulatory inquiries.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

• LL.B. or J.D. from an accredited university; licensed to practice law in the UAE, another GCC jurisdiction, or EU/UK.
• Minimum 10 years of legal experience in a fast-paced, evolving industry.
• Excellent written and spoken English and Arabic are required.
• Preferred experience in highly regulated sectors such as financial services, healthcare, and public sector.
• Familiarity with global and regional data, cybersecurity, and AI regulatory frameworks.
• Knowledge of anti-corruption laws, including the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and UK Bribery Act.
• Experience advising on AI-related legal issues, including algorithmic transparency and AI ethics is a plus.
• Exceptional negotiation and drafting skills, strong attention to detail, and robust legal reasoning.
• Excellent communication skills, able to engage effectively with stakeholders.
• Demonstrated comfort using AI tools and a proactive mindset towards improving legal processes.
• Strong understanding of technical concepts such as cloud computing, digital transformation, and AI.
• A collaborative, adaptable attitude with a commitment to continuous professional development.
