Senior Cybersecurity Specialist

The opportunity is for a Senior Cybersecurity Specialist with knowledge of Substation Automation Systems Testing & Commissioning for various projects. This role involves acting as the responsible commissioning engineer overseeing the installation and commissioning of Substation Automation systems for assignments classified as medium commissioning complexity. You will manage completion of all commissioning activities efficiently and cost-effectively in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.

How you’ll make an impact

• Represent the Commissioning function at project meetings and design review meetings. Contribute to the creation of the project commissioning philosophy and manage its implementation.
• Manage the implementation of commissioning design changes and the production of as-built project documentation. Support the continuous improvement of project processes and product/system design via provision of lessons learned feedback.
• Support Project Managers in issuing claims regarding new scope of work, cost impact, time impact, and risk quantifications.
• Create work plans for work in your area of responsibility and proactively manage this work to deliver the agreed program on time, on quality, and at targeted cost.
• Conduct risk and opportunity assessments in real-time during the commissioning phase to ensure the safe implementation of the commissioning philosophy and identification of potential variation requests to support contract claims. Report early any contract/quality/program/cost issues to management, along with recommendations for resolution.
• Act as the company lead for commissioning activities on a project and ensure that the company is presented as a professional organization in all interactions with the customer.
• Interface with customers and external providers for approval of plant acceptance criteria, open issues closure, and performance tests. Coordinate site activities focused on finalizing customer acceptance certification.
• Manage external organizations providing Commissioning with equipment, systems, or services (e.g., issues permit to work, provides guidance on health and safety requirements and work practices, accepts completed work).
• Actively develop and coach colleagues and cultivate a network of Engineering colleagues both within and outside your business unit.
• Create standard processes and tools, ensuring that all commissioning activities comply with the required safety regulations and satisfy contractual requirements.
• Prepare project documentation for SAT and obtain approvals from utilities for Commissioning activities of SAS Systems.
• Proactively coordinate and report to management, ensuring compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering with in-depth knowledge of Networking and Cybersecurity, along with relevant certifications such as Nozomi, Fortinet, and IEC62443 (all 4 modules). Fortinet and CISCO Networking experience is advantageous.
• 5 to 10 years’ experience as a Commissioning Engineer in Cyber Security, with experience in large and medium complex projects and utility approval in the UAE being preferable.
• Proficient in multi-priority and multi-tasking, with an analytical and strategic approach, and a high customer orientation.
• Good communication and presentation skills are essential.
• Thorough knowledge of Networking and Cybersecurity implementation, including Malware protection, whitelisting, and firewall configuration and implementation.
• Experience with Substation automation systems and different communication protocols, along with in-depth product knowledge of the company and its competitors.
• Working knowledge and understanding of GRS systems on various protocols such as IEC101, IEC104, and IEC61850.
• Proficient in both spoken and written Arabic and English is required.
