The company is one of the largest banks in the Middle East, with over USD 6Bn in revenues and 14,000 employees globally. As part of its strategic mandate, the bank has recently setup its Advanced Analytics Centre of Excellence to drive its ambitious advanced analytics agenda.
Core objectives of the center include:
- Delivering 500-800 Mn AED business impact through a series of use cases and analytics projects executed in collaboration with the Business Units (BUs).
- Instilling a data-driven culture across the company by building organization-wide capabilities in advanced analytics.
The team acts as an enabler for the BUs to deploy advanced analytics models to drive smarter decisions across different domains. It provides guidance to BUs to conceptualize possibilities with advanced analytics, help prioritize ideas, and pilot and productionalize them through cross-functional analytics squads.
The Advanced Analytics Centre houses highly skilled data scientists, data engineers, and other digital talent who are integral members of cross-functional squads executing analytics projects. The analytics agenda is a high visibility and high priority initiative, governed at the Executive Committee level, including impact tracking, a ringfenced budget, and performance management.
Responsibilities
- Analyze complex operational and business data to identify trends, opportunities, performance gaps, and actionable insights that support informed decision-making and achievement of business objectives.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, product owners, business translators, data engineering, and technology teams to understand analytical requirements, define appropriate measures, and develop reliable, scalable data solutions.
- Support the end-to-end delivery of analytical outputs, including data extraction, cleansing, validation, transformation, analysis, dashboard development, and ongoing performance monitoring.
- Develop and maintain analytical models, reports, and dashboards that provide visibility into operational performance, productivity, capacity, benefits, and other relevant business outcomes.
- Ensure analysis is based on accurate, complete, and consistently defined data, investigating discrepancies and resolving data-quality issues with relevant teams.
- Translate complex data and analytical findings into clear business insights, recommendations, and visualizations that can be easily understood and acted upon by operational teams and senior stakeholders.
- Support the testing, implementation, and continuous improvement of analytical solutions to ensure they remain accurate, efficient, and aligned with changing business requirements.
- Contribute to the standardization and automation of recurring analyses to reduce manual effort and enable consistent, timely, and transparent reporting.
- Depending on seniority, provide analytical guidance, quality assurance, and knowledge support to other team members.
Requirements
- University degree.
- Advanced degree (MS/Ph.D) in Computer Applications, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline with high analytical rigor is desirable.
- 8-10 years of experience in a data science role is essential.
- Validated experience in defining analytics roadmaps and leading analytics engagements.
- Experience in machine learning, statistics, optimization, or related fields is required.
- Proficient in programming, specifically in R, Python, or SQL is a must.
- Experience working with large data sets, simulation/optimization, and distributed computing tools (MapReduce, Hadoop, Hive, Spark, etc.) is essential.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working in agile environments with multiple stakeholders from the business.
