Position

As a Microsoft Senior Data Center Technician (DCT), you will demonstrate expertise in standard processes and procedures for preparing, installing, performing diagnostics, troubleshooting, replacing, and/or decommissioning equipment. You will have a holistic understanding of the functions of, and interactions between, network and server equipment. Your role will include providing input for suggested modifications to these processes and procedures to improve service quality and efficiency while guiding other technicians.

Responsibilities

  • Apply advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting expertise to quickly identify the cause of issues.
  • Decommission hardware for complex changes and systems with complex interactions, following standard procedures.
  • Delegate hardware installation, deployment, and replacement tasks while providing expert guidance.
  • Ensure quality execution as defined by organizational standards, coordinating downtime, and keeping relevant stakeholders informed.
  • Assist and provide guidance to technicians to complete challenging tasks and escalate issues as needed.
  • Verify compliance with safety protocols, deployment standards, and planned Network Design Tasks (NDTs).
  • Maintain awareness of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) through dashboards and performance discussions.
  • Train and mentor technicians through on-the-job training and provide direct guidance on specific tasks.
  • Conduct daily safety briefings, complete required safety training, and guide technicians in compliance with safety procedures.

Qualifications

  • Required:

    • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent with basic knowledge of computer hardware and components
    • 2+ years’ experience supporting IT equipment or related technology
  • Preferred:

    • Associate degree in computer science or equivalent work experience
    • 3+ years’ experience supporting IT equipment in a production, mission-critical 24x7x365 data center environment
    • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Server+, Network+)
