Position

This role offers an exciting opportunity to join the company's newly established Central Data Team (CDT), which is responsible for building the company's Data Platform. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a critical part in shaping team standards and practices. The CDT's mission is to provide the company's team members and AI agents with necessary data and context for efficient operations. The position is full-time and based in remote-first settings, with flexible working hours and shared on-call responsibilities during business hours.

Responsibilities:

  • Build streaming and batch pipelines for market, trading, and portfolio data, ensuring resilience against feed and exchange failures.
  • Develop self-serve tooling (SDKs, patterns, templates, AI agents) for data product publishing and consumption.
  • Manage data contracts and schema evolution to minimize coordination challenges.
  • Design the lakehouse and time-series architecture based on consumer query patterns.
  • Establish and enhance the Data Governance and Data Quality Framework.
  • Create derived analytics for business operations.
  • Implement observability, cost management, and performance metrics from the outset.
  • Apply infrastructure as code principles in collaboration with the Central Infrastructure Team.
  • Document processes and partner closely with Architecture, Infrastructure, and other teams.

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of experience in building production data systems.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and SQL; effective reasoning about query performance and optimization.
  • Experience designing and operating streaming systems (Kafka, Redpanda, MSK, or Kinesis) and time-series stores (ClickHouse preferred).
  • Familiarity with lakehouse architectures and their design implications.
  • Hands-on experience with Docker, Terraform, CI/CD, and a focus on operational readiness.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with Apache Iceberg or Delta Lake for lakehouse implementations.
  • Familiarity with metadata/lineage platforms like DataHub.
  • Interest or experience in Rust.
