About the role
We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist (Computer Vision) to join our Oil and Gas team, specifically focusing on upstream production modeling and optimization. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze data, implement and maintain solutions, and provide actionable recommendations to enhance production management and operational performance.
Responsibilities
- Develop next-generation AI-enabled software products for the oil and gas industry.
- Formalize Oil & Gas problems into AI problems.
- Translate business objectives into actionable analyses and insights.
- Collaborate on solution design with other data scientists, engineers, and subject matter experts (SMEs).
- Prepare data: extract, clean, audit, and preprocess data for analysis.
- Analyze data quality and proactively address data issues.
- Contribute to the creation of large-scale labeled databases with our annotation team.
- Develop data-driven algorithms and prototypes for tasks like regression, classification, segmentation, anomaly detection, and optimization.
- Evaluate proposed AI solutions against project objectives.
- Stay current with the latest technology trends and apply state-of-the-art AI techniques to improve existing solutions.
- Deploy and maintain AI models in production.
- Aid in preparing and visualizing results from analyses.
- Communicate ideas, plans, and results effectively through presentations and written reports.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in applying deep learning (DL) and machine learning (ML) techniques for computer vision tasks (classification, segmentation, detection, pose estimation).
- In-depth knowledge of deep learning basics and architectures such as ResNet, Inception, U-Net, and YOLO is essential.
- Proven experience in developing core AI algorithms for real-world applications.
- Participation and success in computer vision hackathons or competitions is a significant advantage.
- Experience with CCTV (camera networks) streams is a plus.
- Background in the oil and gas sector or oil field services is a plus.
Required key skills
- Strong foundation in applied mathematics, algorithms, and coding.
- Proficiency in machine learning and deep learning methodologies.
- Skilled in AI applications to signal-processing challenges.
- Proficient in Python and familiar with classic computer vision tools (OpenCV), deep learning frameworks (PyTorch), and popular machine learning libraries (e.g., Scikit-learn).
- Theoretical and practical knowledge of various machine learning algorithms (PCA, KNN, Random Forest, XGBoost) and deep learning networks (CNNs, GANs, Diffusion Models, Transformers).
- Experienced with development tools like PyCharm, Jupyter, MLFlow, Git, and Docker.
- Capability to build AI models and provide actionable recommendations derived from these models.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Result-driven and proactive attitude.
Educational requirements
- Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or an AI-related field.
