About the Role
The Advanced Analytics Centre of Excellence (AA CoE) plays a crucial role within the company, aiming to drive the bank’s ambitious advanced analytics agenda. The core objectives of the center are to deliver a significant business impact of 500-800 Mn AED through various advanced analytics projects and to instill a data-driven culture across the organization by building capabilities in advanced analytics. The AA CoE will enable business units (BUs) to utilize advanced analytics models to make smarter decisions and cultivate innovative ideas in the realm of data.

In this role as a Senior Data Scientist, you will be responsible for scoping, designing, and implementing machine learning models that support the execution of various use cases, aligning with overarching business objectives. Collaboration is key, as you will work closely with product owners, business translators, data warehousing, and data engineering teams. Additionally, you will play a mentorship role, guiding junior colleagues and fostering professional growth within the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver a strong roadmap of AA projects in collaboration with Business Units, ensuring alignment with business objectives and targets.
  • Design and implement machine-learning models to support various business initiatives and programs.
  • Create comprehensive documentation of reusable code and artefacts for analytics initiatives.
  • Focus on personal development by achieving technical learning goals to advance your skill set.
  • Conduct knowledge sharing sessions to promote analytics insights, both internally within the CoE and externally at meetups or conferences.
  • Participate in cultural initiatives to enhance collaboration and knowledge sharing within the CoE.

Qualifications

  • Education:

    • University degree required
    • Advanced degree (MS/Ph.D.) in Computer Applications, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline is desirable.
  • Experience:

    • A minimum of 6-8 years of experience in a data science role is essential.
  • Knowledge & Skills:

    • Proven experience in defining analytics road maps and leading analytics engagements.
    • Strong background in machine learning, statistics, optimization, or related fields.
    • Proficient in programming, specifically in R or Python.
    • Experience working with large data sets and familiarity with distributed computing tools (e.g., Map/Reduce, Hadoop, Hive, Spark).
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Experience working in agile environments with multiple stakeholders.
  • Behavioral Competencies:
