Senior Database Admin Engineer

About the Job:
As a Senior Database Admin Engineer, you will oversee the management and maintenance of databases, ensuring their performance, security, availability, and reliability. This role requires a maximum notice period of 30 days and will be working on-site under a contract with a government entity, managed by the company.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and maintain databases ensuring performance, security, availability, and reliability.
• Handle installation, configuration, patching, backup & recovery.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design database structures, schemas, and data models.
• Monitor and optimize database performance (query tuning, indexing, troubleshooting).
• Ensure compliance with security policies and industry standards.
• Plan and execute database upgrades, migrations, and capacity planning.
• Implement automation scripts and tools for database administration.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.

Required Skills:

• Strong expertise in databases such as Oracle Database, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
• Hands-on experience in performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing.
• Knowledge of database security (encryption, access control, auditing).
• Expertise in backup & recovery strategies and disaster recovery planning.
• Proficiency in scripting including SQL, PL/SQL, PowerShell, and Python.
• Experience with monitoring and diagnostic tools.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in IT or related field.
• Minimum 5-6 years of relevant experience in database administration.
