You will play a pivotal role in scaling distributed MariaDB environments, shaping reliable high-traffic systems, and creating automated workflows. Key Responsibilities:
- Scale and tune high-throughput MariaDB clusters for global expansion and new product initiatives.
- Enhance high-availability, disaster-recovery, and backup approaches through sound design and validated procedures.
- Automate processes to reduce manual operational work and improve efficiency.
- Champion observability and alert quality with meaningful metrics and operational clarity.
- Improve database security with robust access controls and upgrade practices.
- Participate in modern platform initiatives, including containerized environments and infrastructure-as-code workflows.
- Collaborate with service teams to enhance performance and database hygiene across the organization.
- Engage in on-call rotations with a focus on preventative engineering.
What You Bring:
- 5+ years of experience with MariaDB/MySQL in high-volume production environments.
- Strong understanding of high-availability patterns and distributed database behavior.
- Hands-on experience with database proxies or load-balancing layers (e.g., HAProxy, ProxySQL).
- Practical knowledge of CI/CD, GitOps, and Infrastructure-as-Code workflows (ideally with Terraform).
- Solid cloud, Linux, and networking fundamentals.
- Experience with containers and orchestration platforms, including Kubernetes.
- Strong security instincts and observability expertise for incident response.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Nice to Haves:
- Familiarity with SRE methodologies, scripting/programming (Python or Rust preferred).
- Experience with GitOps tooling and exposure to multi-region or disaster recovery designs.
- Interest in cryptocurrency or decentralized systems is a plus.
