Key Responsibilities:

  • Scale and optimize high-throughput MariaDB clusters.
  • Strengthen high-availability, disaster-recovery, and backup strategies.
  • Develop automation to reduce manual operational tasks.
  • Enhance observability and alert quality within database environments.
  • Implement robust security measures for access control and operations.
  • Contribute to modern platform initiatives, including containerization and infrastructure-as-code workflows.
  • Collaborate with service teams to improve performance patterns and database hygiene.
  • Participate in on-call rotations with a focus on preventive engineering.

Skills You Should Have:

  • 5+ years of experience with MariaDB/MySQL in production environments.
  • Strong understanding of high-availability patterns and distributed database behaviors.
  • Hands-on experience with database proxies or load balancers (e.g., HAProxy, ProxySQL).
  • Practical experience with CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code workflows (ideal with Terraform).
  • Familiar with cloud, Linux, and networking fundamentals.
  • Experience with containers and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.
  • Solid communication skills for stakeholder collaboration and documentation.

Nice to Haves:

  • Experience with SRE methodologies and reliability programs.
  • Strong scripting skills (Python or Rust preferred).
  • Familiarity with multi-region or disaster-recovery designs.
  • Interest in cryptocurrency or decentralized systems.
