Key Responsibilities:
- Scale and optimize high-throughput MariaDB clusters.
- Strengthen high-availability, disaster-recovery, and backup strategies.
- Develop automation to reduce manual operational tasks.
- Enhance observability and alert quality within database environments.
- Implement robust security measures for access control and operations.
- Contribute to modern platform initiatives, including containerization and infrastructure-as-code workflows.
- Collaborate with service teams to improve performance patterns and database hygiene.
- Participate in on-call rotations with a focus on preventive engineering.
Skills You Should Have:
- 5+ years of experience with MariaDB/MySQL in production environments.
- Strong understanding of high-availability patterns and distributed database behaviors.
- Hands-on experience with database proxies or load balancers (e.g., HAProxy, ProxySQL).
- Practical experience with CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code workflows (ideal with Terraform).
- Familiar with cloud, Linux, and networking fundamentals.
- Experience with containers and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.
- Solid communication skills for stakeholder collaboration and documentation.
Nice to Haves:
- Experience with SRE methodologies and reliability programs.
- Strong scripting skills (Python or Rust preferred).
- Familiarity with multi-region or disaster-recovery designs.
- Interest in cryptocurrency or decentralized systems.
