Senior Digital Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Digital Engineer to join our Engineering team. This role is responsible for the development, integration, production support, and maintenance of firmware for advanced electronic systems and subsystems used in demanding aerospace and defense environments.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in FPGA firmware development, VHDL design, embedded systems, and SoC architectures, with experience supporting products throughout the full development lifecycle from concept and design through verification, integration, and production.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Firmware Development

• Design, develop, and implement FPGA firmware using VHDL for FPGA, SoC, and CPLD platforms.
• Optimize firmware implementations for resource-constrained devices such as Intel Max10 CPLDs.
• Lead full FPGA development lifecycle activities from requirements through deployment.
• Develop Board Support Packages (BSPs) and peripheral interfaces.
• Ensure firmware development complies with applicable aerospace and defense standards, including DO-254.

Verification, Simulation & Testing

• Develop automated test benches for firmware verification.
• Perform simulation, debugging, and validation of FPGA and SoC designs.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues at PCB assembly level involving digital and analog circuitry.
• Support system integration, verification, and production activities.

FPGA & PCB Design Collaboration

• Contribute to FPGA-based digital circuit design reviews.
• Work closely with PCB and E-CAD engineers to ensure successful hardware integration.
• Verify firmware compatibility with electronic components and board architectures.
• Support PCB assembly testing and debugging activities.

Embedded Software Integration

• Develop embedded C software to interface FPGA firmware with SoC platforms.
• Collaborate with software engineers to implement robust hardware-software solutions.
• Support integration activities across firmware, software, and hardware teams.

Documentation & Compliance

• Produce high-quality technical documentation including requirements, design descriptions, verification plans, and test reports.
• Ensure documentation complies with defense, aerospace, and industry standards.
• Support compliance activities related to DO-254 and DO-178 processes where applicable.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (4-year) or higher in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 5-8 years of hands-on FPGA firmware development experience.
• Experience within aerospace, defense, or other high-technology industries is preferred.

Technical Skills

• Strong proficiency in VHDL development and verification.
• Experience with Intel Altera and/or AMD Xilinx FPGA families (Cyclone, Zynq-7000, etc.).
• Experience with CPLD devices, particularly Intel Max10.
• Embedded C development on SoC platforms.
• Strong understanding of digital and analog circuit design and PCB debugging.
• Knowledge of aerospace and defense standards including DO-254 and DO-178.
