As a Senior Engineer – Software Development, you will lead full-stack software delivery across the company's projects, taking ownership of both the React frontend and Java (Spring Boot) backend development outside of dedicated critical-client engagements, which are supported by embedded frontend and backend specialists. This role is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of features, from design and development through testing and deployment, with accountability for both sides of the technology stack without reliance on a counterpart engineer. You will work across multiple concurrent projects, adapting to each project's existing architecture, development standards, and technical conventions while ensuring consistent, high-quality outcomes. Proactively embedding data integrity, performance, accessibility, and maintainability into solutions from the outset is essential to ensure robust and scalable systems. Additionally, you will closely collaborate with engineering leads, architects, and project-specific teams to align shared engineering standards, best practices, and development methodologies across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain features end-to-end across the React frontend and Java (Spring Boot) backend, adapting to each project's established architecture.
• Maintain and extend frontend state management approaches without introducing conflicting patterns.
• Ensure data integrity and correct transaction boundaries across concurrent backend operations.
• Diagnose and resolve issues across the full stack, from frontend rendering and state bugs to backend concurrency and performance issues.
• Profile and improve performance across the stack under real usage, not synthetic benchmarks.
• Ensure UI changes meet accessibility standards (WCAG) as a built-in requirement, not an afterthought.
• Work on the relational database layer (schema changes, query performance, migrations) with production-safe practices.
• Design and consume REST APIs, owning both sides of the contract between frontend and backend.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Engineers, and Designers in Agile/Scrum on whichever project you're supporting.
• Apply change-management discipline appropriate to each project's risk profile, whether early-stage or already in production.

Qualifications

• Strong React experience (5+ years) with a deep understanding of state architecture in non-trivial applications covering component state, context, and state management patterns at scale.
• Strong Java experience (5+ years) with a deep understanding of concurrency, thread safety, locking, and race conditions using the java.util.concurrent toolkit.
• Solid grasp of transaction boundaries and data integrity in multi-user systems.
• Experience with Spring Boot for building backend services.
• Strong SQL and relational database experience (schema design, query tuning, migrations).
• Track record of diagnosing and improving performance under real usage across both the frontend and backend.
• Solid grasp of web accessibility standards (WCAG) and how to implement them, not just audit for them.
• Comfortable reading and extending an existing, unfamiliar codebase across both stacks.
• Strong understanding of REST API design, both building and consuming, including request/response contracts.

Additional Requirements

• Comfortable working across multiple projects with different codebases, conventions, and risk profiles, rather than being embedded full-time on one.
• Comfortable adapting to each project's existing architectural patterns rather than imposing a single standard approach everywhere.
• Demonstrated full-stack capability, with end-to-end ownership of frontend and backend features across all assigned projects.
• Coordinates with, but does not report into, project-dedicated engineers; shares standards and practices rather than a reporting line.

NICE TO HAVE

• Experience using AI-assisted coding tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code) to accelerate delivery across projects, while retaining full ownership and review of what ships.
• Python experience.
