Key Responsibilities and Specific Accountabilities:
- Manage all functions, activities, and personnel in the Field Service department.
- Oversee disassembly, inspection, assembly, troubleshooting, and testing of rotating equipment, providing direct support as needed.
- Support the Operation Manager in estimating field activity requirements for costing information on quotations and proposals.
- Determine the acceptability of components for field activities, either as-is or requiring repairs.
- Schedule workflow to ensure timely attendance dates are met and resources are effectively utilized.
- Schedule overtime when necessary to meet completion requirements and submit plans for approval.
- Manage budgets and costs within the Field Service Department.
- Oversee quality measures including scrap, rework, and return costs.
- Approve material purchases needed to fulfill requirements.
- Select, train, motivate, and manage performance issues for all department personnel.
- Ensure adherence to safety rules and provide proper training for equipment use, verifying that shop equipment is functional and equipped with necessary safety guards.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and practices in the pump shop area.
- Provide training to department personnel.
- Drive improvements in customer on-site services provided.
- Develop special tooling and sketches of products and tooling as required.
- Maintain scheduled attendance, aiming for zero lost time accidents and reduced costs/wastage.
Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications
- Strong understanding of fitting and operational processes.
- Robust product knowledge of rotating equipment, including mechanical analysis.
- Basic understanding of planning, purchasing, and inventory management concepts.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to develop relationships and be a self-starter capable of making technical and business decisions.
- Capability to train and motivate others; willingness to learn new computer programs.
- A solid understanding of safe operating practices and hazard identification is essential.
Education and/or Experience
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in Field Service.
- Degree in a related field.
- Vibration certification is a plus.
