Key Accountabilities:
- Advocate for improvements in product quality, security, and performance affecting both your team and others.
- Solve complex technical problems for your team.
- Influential in defining the long-term objectives and goals of your team.
- Define and enhance internal standards for style, maintainability, and best practices in a high-scale backend environment; maintain these standards through code reviews.
- Drive innovation by confronting complex problems and seeking improvements in team efficiency.
- Interact with customers and other external stakeholders as a consultant representing team work.
- Provide mentorship to engineers on your team, assisting in technical growth and removing obstacles to their autonomy.
- Participate in larger collaborative projects and evaluate new product features with the product team.
- Simplify product and technical designs through proactive discussions.
Specialist Skills / Technical Knowledge Required:
- Expertise in writing production-ready code that is easily testable and comprehensible to other developers.
- Familiarity with your team's testing approach and ability to identify gaps using quality metrics.
- Proficient in systematic debugging and driving monitoring efforts within your domain.
- Expertise in domain services, including their interactions and data flows.
- Experience in architecting services using well-accepted design patterns for iterative development and scalability.
- Collaboration with security teams to refine approaches aligned with organizational security strategies.
Previous Experience:
- 12+ years of software development experience, particularly with Java/JEE/Spring development frameworks.
- 3+ years of experience in designing large-scale distributed systems.
- Certification in TOGAF, Azure Solutions Architect, AWS Solutions Architect, or GCP Solution Architect.
- Demonstrated implementations of microservices, and experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift.
- Strong understanding of static code analysis, unit testing, and automated test frameworks.
- Familiarity with Jenkins, SonarQube, GIT, Maven, Gradle, and at least two application server technologies (e.g., JBoss, Tomcat, WebLogic).
- Experience with database technologies such as Oracle, MySQL, Postgres, or MongoDB.
- Prior experience in a DevOps-focused environment with a solid understanding of DevOps principles.
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
