We are hiring a Jira Software Engineer to manage the Atlassian stack at Canonical, including administration, configuration, automation, and integration responsibilities. We expect the highest engineering quality, rigorous documentation practices, and effective stakeholder management. Our goal is to enable engineering and business teams to leverage the power of Atlassian Jira for data-driven decision-making.

The role is part of the Commercial Systems team that integrates business systems to ensure reliable data flows and to automate business processes. We work across various SaaS solutions, including Jira, Salesforce, NetSuite, and more. We utilize Python and Go alongside open-source tools like Airbyte and Temporal to enhance business operations and inform decision-making.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Manage the entire Atlassian Cloud ecosystem at Canonical.
  • Design, document, and implement processes and automation in Jira.
  • Design, document, and implement integrations between Jira and the data warehouse.
  • Create analytical dashboards to enable stakeholders to make data-driven decisions.
  • Develop learning resources that scale.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and support teams globally.
  • Take ownership of critical escalations and resolve them promptly.

Qualifications:

  • Exceptional academic track record from both high school and university.
  • Experience with Atlassian Jira as an administrator.
  • Understanding of common Jira usage patterns for various departments.
  • Experience as a software developer in Python.
  • Professional written and spoken English.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability.
  • Ability to collaborate remotely and remain motivated and organized in a fully remote environment.
  • Willingness to travel internationally twice a year for company events (up to two weeks).

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • A perspective on process architecture.
  • Experience with complex cross-project automation.
