About the Role
We are looking for a credit expert to serve as the Product Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Alpha, our investment and credit AI product. Your primary responsibility will be to translate how banks assess corporate and commercial borrowers into useful, repeatable product capabilities. You will shape what Alpha needs to understand, how its workflows should behave, and what good outputs look like.

Embedded in the product team, you will collaborate with the Product Manager, Design, Engineering, and Science teams to turn banking knowledge into detailed requirements, reference examples, and quality standards. Direct engagement with bank users will be essential to validate your contributions. Your success will be measured by the usefulness, reliability, and adoption of the product capabilities you help shape.
What You'll Own
- Map how relationship managers, credit analysts, independent risk teams, and approvers assess borrowers. Identify the information, handoffs, and decisions involved in new lending, renewals, and ongoing reviews.
- Translate credit assessment practices into product requirements covering business and financial risk, repayment capacity, facility purpose and structure, collateral, policy checks, and approval rationale.
- Create reference workflows, annotated credit papers, question libraries, and worked examples that help product and technical teams understand the reasoning behind bank requirements.
- Advise the Product Manager on valuable use cases, workflow gaps, and domain dependencies. Contribute to prioritizing capabilities that solve recurring bank needs and can be reused across customers.
- Define which templates, risk-rating inputs, financial definitions, policy thresholds, and approval steps must be configurable for different banks, borrower segments, and lending products.
- Collaborate with Design, Science, and Engineering on prototypes, user stories, and acceptance criteria. Resolve domain questions during delivery and validate that features fit the way bank teams actually work.
- Specify the evidence and data to be retrieved, the questions it should surface, and the structure of its outputs. Guide requirements for financial spreading, credit memo preparation, covenant review, and monitoring alerts.
- Shape review, correction, and escalation flows with clear distinctions between source facts, calculations, assumptions, and AI interpretation.
- Build representative test cases, reference answers, and evaluation rubrics with Science. Assess credit reasoning, numerical accuracy, evidence completeness and usefulness; include missing information, conflicting sources, and policy exceptions.
- Diagnose domain errors, document expected behavior, agree on quality thresholds, and verify fixes and regressions before release.
- Translate bank governance needs into product behavior, including permissions, confidentiality, traceable sources, calculation reproducibility, audit history, and human approval, working with security, legal, and risk teams.
- Lead domain discovery with bank users and design partners. Test assumptions about credit processes and distinguish common requirements from institution-specific preferences or policies.
- Design realistic pilot scenarios with the Product Manager and customer teams. Assess workflow fit, analytical quality, time saved, review effort, and user adoption; turn findings into actionable product feedback.
- Support demos, proposals, and customer workshops with credible banking expertise.
- Maintain reusable domain guidance, workflow examples, and product feedback for internal teams. Bring recurring customer questions and market developments into roadmap discussions with the Product Manager.
What We're Looking For
- Typically 6+ years in bank credit, corporate or commercial lending, credit risk, or a closely related advisory or technology role, with substantial practical exposure to bank credit assessment and approval processes.
- Strong understanding of how banks assess creditworthiness: borrower and sector risk, financial statements, cash flow, leverage, liquidity, debt-service capacity, collateral, and facility structure.
- Working knowledge of credit policies, risk ratings, credit papers, approval authorities, exceptions, renewals, and monitoring. Ability to explain how practices vary across institutions and customer segments.
- Evidence of translating specialist knowledge into requirements, process improvements, or reusable guidance. Ability to explain both the credit rationale and its implications for a product.
- Ability to review financial models and credit analysis critically, identify misleading assumptions or unsupported conclusions, and turn findings into clear examples and quality criteria for technical teams.
- Comfort working iteratively with prototypes and AI-assisted tools, testing their behavior and learning how retrieval, citations, evaluations, and human review affect AI product reliability.
- Strong written communication, customer engagement, and cross-functional collaboration skills. Ability to explain complex credit concepts simply and resolve ambiguity with practical recommendations.
- A bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting, engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
Nice To Have
- Experience as a product SME, domain consultant, or business analyst on a lending platform, credit workflow, risk system, or banking transformation initiative.
- Experience working with product and engineering teams on discovery, requirements, user testing, or launches. Familiarity with AI evaluation or document intelligence is valuable.
- Knowledge of GCC banking practices, Islamic finance, or regional credit requirements. Arabic language skills and experience with bilingual financial documents are advantages.
- CFA, FRM, or another relevant qualification, or comparable practical depth in banking and credit.
Benefits
- An inclusive, collaborative environment with opportunities to influence sovereign AI products, alongside competitive compensation, benefits, and professional development.
- Culture focused on diversity and inclusion that encourages personal growth and emphasizes groundbreaking, industry-first innovations.
- Outstanding learning, development, and growth opportunities via structured training programs and innovative, high-tech projects.
- A competitive remuneration package with a variety of perks including healthcare, education support, leave benefits, and more.
