Responsibilities
- Analyze large-scale usage, performance, and cost data to understand customer interactions with AI inference and identify friction points that influence adoption, retention, and growth.
- Design and conduct experiments—A/B tests, causal analyses, and statistical evaluations—to measure impact and guide product and routing decisions.
- Build and ship data products and user-facing features, including usage analytics and model-performance rankings, to help customers optimize their AI usage.
- Develop classifiers, scoring, and ranking systems that enhance model selection for customers.
- Define and track key product metrics—adoption, engagement, quality, and platform health—connecting them to architectural decisions and the product roadmap.
- Partner with product, engineering, and customer-facing teams to convert analyses into actionable features.
- Contribute to the analytical data foundation by developing data models, pipelines, and warehouses.
- Evaluate model quality using online and offline assessments and communicate findings to stakeholders effectively.
What We’re Looking For
(a) Required Skills / Qualifications
- Background in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related quantitative field; Master’s or PhD preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in data science, applied ML, or quantitative product role, preferably in a high-growth or high-velocity environment.
- Strong statistical foundations including experimental design, A/B testing, and causal inference.
- Proficient in SQL, capable of writing complex queries against large-scale analytical databases (e.g., ClickHouse, BigQuery, Snowflake).
- Proficiency in Python (or similar) for analysis, modeling, simulations, and building data pipelines.
- Experience creating production data products—models, classifiers, or automated decision systems.
- Proven collaboration with product and engineering teams to turn insights into features.
- Familiarity with AI and LLMs, including model evaluation and performance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of distilling complex analysis into clear recommendations.
(b) Preferred Skills / Qualifications
- Experience with LLM evaluation and benchmarking.
- Knowledge of AI inference and model-serving concepts (latency, throughput, cost).
- Familiarity with developer platforms, APIs/SDKs, or usage-based products.
- Experience with data modeling and modern warehouse tools (e.g., dbt, ClickHouse).
- NLP or machine learning engineering experience in building classifiers or ranking models.
- Experience in regulated, sovereign, or enterprise environments.
- Familiarity with cloud services such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
- Passion for innovation and curiosity aligned with the mission to push AI frontiers.
How You Work
- Proactive: You identify and resolve high-impact problems independently.
- AI-focused: You utilize modern AI tools extensively in your tasks.
- Adaptable: You navigate complex systems, breaking them down to find solutions.
- Strong communicator: You simplify complex trade-offs for diverse audiences.
What Success Looks Like
- Insights and products enhance customer experience, driving adoption and retention.
- Experiments inform product and roadmap decisions.
- Product metrics are reliable, defined, and influence decisions.
- Customers can effectively understand and optimize their AI usage based on new features.
- Analytical foundations grow with the business and elevate decision-making quality.
Role Scope and Boundaries
This hands-on, individual-contributor role focuses on analysis, experimentation, and data product development. You will work alongside product managers, who handle roadmap prioritization, and engineering teams responsible for production systems. Analysis and evidence will guide product decisions, but legal, risk, compliance, and security teams will manage policy interpretations and approvals.
