Job Responsibilities
Procurement Strategy & Planning
- Build the annual procurement plan based on approved budgets across various business units.
- Develop category strategies for plants, agricultural inputs, irrigation, equipment and fleet, and services.
- Aggregate demand and establish framework and rate agreements for recurring items.
Sourcing & Purchasing
- Manage the full procurement cycle including requisitions, RFQs or tenders, evaluations, negotiations, and purchase orders.
- Ensure competitive sourcing practices while applying appropriate Delegation of Authority for all purchases.
Plant Imports
- Source imported plants from qualified international suppliers; pre-qualify these suppliers and participate in on-site inspections prior to order confirmation.
- Manage logistics, including lead times, freight, customs clearance, and ensure biosecurity documentation is in order.
Supplier Management
- Maintain the vendor list; evaluate and review supplier performance regularly.
- Handle supplier contracts, claims, disputes, and seek to develop local suppliers whenever possible.
Cost Control & Compliance
- Monitor savings, price benchmarks, and spending categorized by business unit.
- Ensure procurement compliance with policies, ethics, and controls, maintaining records for audit readiness.
Stores Interface
- Collaborate with stores and nursery operations to establish reorder levels for essential consumables.
Leadership
- Lead a procurement team (2 FTE) by setting objectives, KPIs, and development plans.
- Fulfill the responsibilities typical of a Section Head.
Policies, Systems, Processes & Standards
- Maintain adherence to all Botanica and company policies, ensuring consistent execution of processes and standards.
Safety, Quality & Environment
- Advocate for and implement safety, quality, and environmental management systems, ensuring compliance and high-quality service.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify and spearhead initiatives to enhance departmental systems and processes, focusing on cost reduction and productivity enhancements.
Job Requirements
Qualification and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or Agriculture; CIPS or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum 12 years of procurement experience, including 5 years in managing a procurement team.
- Background in agricultural, horticultural, landscape, or construction procurement is essential, including experience with international imports.
Skills:
- Strong negotiation, tendering, and bid evaluation skills.
- Expertise in supplier contract management, import, and customs procedures.
- Proficient in spend analysis and ERP procurement systems.
- Fluent in both Arabic and English.
