The Senior Project Manager leads, plans, and implements multiple projects through all phases of execution within the specified budget and timelines. The incumbent will also be responsible for determining project resources, preparing budgets, monitoring progress, and keeping stakeholders informed of project progress and milestones. Additionally, this role includes leading a team of Project Managers.
Key Accountabilities:
- Manage a team of Project Managers and support staff covering several defense projects across multiple countries.
- Set objectives and monthly targets, holding the team accountable.
- Develop and design detailed project plans, define project scopes, and determine resources, estimated costs, and timelines to achieve project goals.
- Ensure that all projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Define and establish a robust assessment process with metrics to measure project outcomes and results.
- Utilize industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout the entire project execution.
- Maintain constant communication and visibility of project progress among key stakeholders.
- Use tools and techniques (project data, status reports, etc.) to measure and monitor project progress against performance metrics.
- Adjust or reallocate resources to accommodate required changes.
- Identify and escalate project risks and issues, facilitating communication for decision points and mitigation solutions between cross-functional teams.
- Meet budgetary objectives and adjust project constraints based on financial analysis.
- Collect, organize, and communicate feedback to improve customer experiences, streamline processes, and reduce operating costs.
- Evaluate and assess project results and provide recommendations for future improvements.
Supporting Accountabilities:
- Develop and manage budgets, track expenses, and identify areas for cost reduction.
- Prepare cost-benefit analyses to support financial decision-making.
- Analyze project operations to identify opportunities for savings and implement cost-reduction strategies.
- Build and maintain relationships with customers, suppliers, peers, entities, and service providers.
- Work with Contract and Procurement departments to negotiate contracts and rates, ensuring the best value for the company.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to logistics and supply chain activities.
- Prepare reports on project performance, budget adherence, and cost-saving initiatives.
Experience & Education Qualifications:
- 12 years of experience in Project Management, including at least 5 years in defense, aerospace, or advanced technology sectors with exposure to international programs.
- Experience managing a team of at least 5 direct reports, preferably Project Managers.
- Strong background in stakeholder management and conflict resolution.
- Proficiency in MS Project, SAP, and cost control systems.
- Experience with complex, export-controlled international projects and global supply chains, overseeing programs in the USD $500m+ range.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Project Management, or a related field; Master’s preferred.
- Professional certification preferred (e.g., PMI, PMP, APM).
