Key Accountabilities
Business Development Support:
- Assist in business development activities by maintaining an up-to-date personal profile and resume.
- Build positive working relationships with external parties (customers, suppliers, contractors).
- Develop discipline execution strategies, estimate costs, write proposal content, and present to customers.
- May lead parts of technical proposals.
Business Operations:
- Communicate team resource loading and skill requirements to supervisors.
- Ensure project work coverage during vacations or unplanned absences.
- Mentor and support training delivery.
- Assist in employee performance reviews.
- Address inter-discipline, vendor, and customer issues, ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, and security requirements.
Technical Competency:
- Ensure team adherence to engineering practices, regulatory requirements, and client specifications.
- Standardize equipment specifications and document templates.
- Support checking, peer reviews, and incorporation of comments/finding.
- Display an active commitment to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) management.
- Maintain expert knowledge in the design/selecting of rotating equipment for onshore oil & gas projects.
- Experience in Concept, FEED, Detail Design, equipment procurement, and third-party management is preferred.
- Participate in projects in the Middle East is preferred.
- Engage in client workshops on design reviews and other technical reviews.
- Manage the development and documentation of discipline Basis of Design and equipment selection philosophy.
- Prepare specifications, mechanical data sheets, and requisitions; conduct technical bid evaluations for rotating equipment and packages.
- Ensure compliance with company standards and project specifications through document checking and design verification.
- Coordinate interdisciplinary activities.
- Have extensive knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and recommended practices, particularly API standards for rotating equipment.
- Demonstrate knowledge of international codes, statutory requirements, and onshore engineering practices.
- Provide expertise in the following types of rotating equipment:
- Gas turbine drivers
- Centrifugal compressors
- Reciprocating compressors
- Rotary compressors
- Centrifugal pumps
- Positive displacement pumps
- Fans and blowers
- Chemical injection and miscellaneous packages.
Project Execution:
- Participate in project execution strategy and planning.
- Understand project scope/cost/time requirements and coordinate with other disciplines to ensure success.
- Implement innovative solutions to deal with sequence disruptions.
- Manage project changes and collaborate with the project management team on corrective actions.
- Plan and monitor quality activities and recommend improvements.
Project Deliverables:
- Gather data and prepare engineering studies, analyses, calculations, and final documentation.
- Identify technical issues, alternative solutions, and make recommendations via project documents.
- Review documentation from direct reports for accuracy and compliance.
Procurement Support:
- Integrate information into material specifications, data sheets, and requirements.
- Participate in bid clarifications and evaluations.
- Complete vendor reviews and certification activities.
- Review documentation for others and authorize work done by direct reports.
Site Support:
- Involve knowledgeable sources in constructability and operability reviews.
- Work with site personnel to resolve issues and produce plans/documents supporting various phases of project execution (construction, commissioning, etc.).
- Provide on-site support as required.
Qualifications
- Typically have 12+ years of relevant discipline experience.
- Strong knowledge of regulations, codes, and industry practices related to the field.
- Skilled in estimating project costs and writing proposals.
- Experience in project leadership and specialized knowledge in relevant areas.
- Trained in risk management or quality, and have relevant degrees in science or engineering.
- Ensure licensure with a local engineering governing body where required.
Decision Making:
- Empowered to make decisions regarding complex issues, referring only unusual cases to senior discipline members for guidance.
Supervision Received:
- Work involves self-initiation with guidance from supervisors; objectives and priorities are provided at the project's outset.
Supervision Authority:
- Typically supervise up to 4 direct reports, which may include discipline engineers and designers. Influence on performance evaluations affecting compensation.
Communication:
- Strong skills in preparing and delivering proposals, presentations, reports, and collaborative communications with stakeholders.
Systems & Tools (Essential):
- Competent in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to navigate information systems and organize data.
Systems & Tools (Desirable):
- Familiarity with additional software tools.
- Proficient in specialty engineering tools.
HSE Capability:
- Hands-on management of HSE requirements and commitment to sustainable outcomes throughout the project lifecycle.
