Responsibilities
As a Senior MEP Electrical Engineer (Design Review), you will play a crucial role in reviewing and overseeing electrical engineering designs for compliance with project specifications, Saudi regulations, and international standards. Your responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing electrical design submissions through all stages, from concept to detailed design and IFC
- Verifying electrical calculations, including load schedules, single-line diagrams, short-circuit studies, voltage drop, and lighting calculations
- Ensuring compliance with Saudi Building Code (SBC 401/801), SEC, SASO, NFPA, and other applicable local authority requirements
- Reviewing power distribution, emergency power, lighting, and low-current systems including ICT, CCTV, access control, and fire alarm
- Coordinating electrical designs with mechanical, civil, structural, and architectural disciplines
- Participating in BIM coordination and clash detection, resolving electrical containment and equipment conflicts
- Reviewing electrical shop drawings, material submittals, technical specifications, and method statements
- Overseeing electrical installation works, conducting site inspections, and witnessing testing and commissioning activities
- Providing technical guidance, resolving design issues, and reviewing design modifications
- Reviewing as-built drawings, O&M manuals, and testing documentation; supporting project handover and DLP activities
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you should have the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
- A minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering, design review, and multidisciplinary building projects
- Strong expertise in electrical design review, power distribution, lighting, emergency systems, and low-current systems
- Experience in engineering consultancies, PMC, or design review environments is preferred
- Knowledge of Saudi codes, SEC standards, and international electrical regulations
- Registration with the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) or equivalent professional registration, where applicable
Technical Skills and Competencies
- Proficiency in ETAP, DIALux, Revit MEP, and Navisworks
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, design standards, and regulatory requirements
- Excellent technical review, analytical, and multidisciplinary coordination skills
- Strong communication, reporting, and problem-solving abilities
