Senior PC Application Software Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE
The company is a center of excellence for propulsion technologies, specializing in the design, engineering, and manufacturing of combustion engines, expendable turbojet engines, and turbofan engines for a wide range of aerospace, defence, and autonomous applications, including fixed- and rotary-wing UAVs and other advanced platforms.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop power electronics architectures for motor drive and motor generator units (MGU).
• Design inverter, rectifier, and bridge stages for PMSM, BLDC, and brushed DC (BDC) machines.
• Design gate driver, protection, and isolation circuits for high-power switching stages.
• Design starter/generator and alternator power conversion, rectification, and regulation circuits.
• Select power semiconductors (MOSFET, IGBT, SiC/GaN) and perform switching/conduction loss and derating analysis.
• Design magnetics (inductors, transformers, current sensing) and DC-link/EMI filter stages.
• Perform thermal design, heatsink sizing, and cooling analysis for power circuits.
• Design current/voltage sensing, isolation, and feedback circuits for closed-loop control.
• Perform schematic design and high-current / high-voltage PCB layout activities.
• Perform simulation and analysis (LTspice, PLECS, PSIM, Simulink) and design verification.
• Design hardware considering EMC/EMI and environmental qualification requirements.
• Plan and support power stage bring-up, integration, and qualification tests.
• Work in coordination with system, software, electrical machine, test, and certification teams.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in power electronics and motor drive hardware design.
• Strong knowledge of switching converter topologies (buck, boost, flyback, half/full bridge, three-phase inverter).
• Strong knowledge of electrical machines such as alternators, generators, starters, PMSM, BLDC, and BDC motors.
• Experience with gate driver design, dead-time management, and short-circuit/overcurrent protection.
• Experience with power semiconductor selection, loss calculation, and thermal derating.
• Experience with magnetics design and high-current PCB layout practices.
• Experience with schematic design and PCB layout tools such as Altium Designer, Mentor PADS, etc.
• Experience with power electronics simulation tools such as LTspice, PLECS, PSIM, or Simulink.
• Experience with EMC/EMI-aware design practices for switching power stages.
• Familiarity with environmental qualification standards such as MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-704, and RTCA/DO-160.
• Knowledge of RTCA/DO-254 and requirements traceability practices.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience with ECU or MGU power electronics hardware development. Experience with electrical machine design and analysis tools (Motor-CAD, JMAG, Ansys Maxwell, Altair Flux).
• Familiarity with sensorless control, resolver/encoder interfaces, and field-oriented control hardware needs.
• Familiarity with aerospace/defense hardware development and certification practices.
