About the Role

Responsibilities
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Develop 3D Models, ensuring a clash-free model by coordinating with all other disciplines.
  • Perform design and engineering processes for facilities within specified timelines while adhering to maintenance, safety, and quality standards, considering constructability, economics, and operational factors during Pre-FEED, FEED, or Detailed Design phases.
  • Work within defined processes and methodologies, helping to determine the appropriate approach for new assignments as needed.
  • Efficiently complete a variety of typical assignments with limited supervision and facilitate the work activities of others.
  • Set priorities, organize personal work and time to meet objectives, and, when serving as Lead Designer or Area Lead, forecast and plan resource requirements.
  • When acting as Lead Designer or Area Lead:
    • Lead the design team to complete tasks within the planned schedule and budget, adhering to the company and project-specific procedures.
    • Act as the project-based discipline point of contact during communications and meetings with the Project Team, Client, vendor/supplier, and/or subcontractor counterparts.
    • Address inter-discipline aspects of design and deliverables.
    • Support the Lead Piping Engineer in measuring progress and productivity.
    • Coordinate activities within the discipline and with other disciplines.
  • Ensure effective communication among disciplines and proper management of change.
  • Coordinate 3D Model Reviews, ensuring that review comments are closed.
  • Become thoroughly familiar with the Project Scope of Work, specifications, schedule, and inter-discipline requirements, identifying concerns and addressing them proactively.
  • Develop Plant Design, 3D Modelling, and Drawings and contribute to the Plant Layout Narrative according to the agreed Scope of Work, man-hours, and schedule.
  • Assist the Lead Piping Engineer/Designer with raising technical queries, preparing piping estimates, and managing job scope changes.
  • Attend project kickoff and review meetings, as well as vendor meetings when serving as Lead Piping Designer.
  • Monitor and coordinate the design team remotely, and lead projects in a Multi Office Project Execution Environment (MOPEX).
  • Identify changes to scope and promptly raise change notifications in the Change Management System.
  • Proactively identify issues and follow up with required corrective actions.
  • Provide solutions to atypical problems based on established precedents or procedures.
  • Act as an informal resource for less experienced colleagues.
  • Ensure all work adheres to the company requirements, Client and Statutory Design Codes, Standards, or Procedures, with a strong focus on Health and Safety Policies.

Reports to:

  • Project: Lead Piping Engineer (As Lead Piping Designer)
  • Functional: Department Manager
    Liaise With:
  • Designers and Engineers, other Engineering disciplines Lead designer and designers, IM Group, Document Control
    Supervises:
  • Piping Designer and Associate Piping Designer

Qualifications
Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • High School graduate with a diploma in Mechanical Design or Drafting in a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience with a major contractor or consultant, including 4+ years in oil and gas focusing on Pre-FEED, FEED, and Detailed Design.
  • Detailed knowledge of 3D CAD systems including E3D or SP3D.
  • Experience with 1 or 2 projects working in E3D and/or S3D.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Familiarity with the local regulatory environment and international/national industry standards and specifications.
  • General understanding of process equipment maintenance and operation.
  • Proficiency in Auto Lisp Programming, 3D Model creation, Menu, and/or Macro compilation is advantageous.
  • Flexibility for business travel.
