Senior Project Lead - Digital Transformation

About the Role / About the Job
The Senior Project Lead position is a vital role responsible for addressing key questions regarding business problems, solutions to be built, and providing requirements to design and delivery teams. The role includes supporting on-ground execution efforts with business and delivery teams to manage queries, challenges, and facilitate de-bottlenecking or escalation to the appropriate stakeholders. The Senior Project Lead is expected to manage 1-2 project leads and/or oversee a digital transformation work-stream comprising 3-4 concurrent initiatives. The position requires strong problem-solving skills, effective communication, process and journey design proficiency, and project management expertise to deliver high-impact initiatives that significantly affect key business metrics such as sales, profitability, customer experience, and cost efficiency. This techno-functional role plays a crucial part in realizing the company's digital transformation agenda, overseeing all on-ground activities, from solution development to implementation and benefit realization for the managed work-streams.

Program Work-Streams Supported
The role supports three main types of program work-streams within the Group’s digital transformation agenda:

1. Business Led:
   This involves initiatives where business leaders have a vision/change in pursuit, requiring insights from a customer journey or process design perspective. Responsibilities include:

   • Conducting diagnostics to define the current state
   • Designing and gaining buy-in for the ideal end state, including market and customer research support
   • Translating the ideal end state into specific requirements across process, policy, design, technology, and personnel categories
   • Supporting the sign-off process with Business and Control stakeholders (Risk, Security, Compliance, Legal, etc.)

2. Business Initiated:
   Here, business leaders seek to pursue a concept-level vision/change. The role serves as a bridge between idea and implementation, requiring functional solution design and project delivery management, involving:

   • Defining the problem statement and achieving stakeholder alignment
   • Conducting diagnostics to establish the current state
   • Designing and obtaining buy-in for the ideal end state
   • Translating the ideal end state into specific requirements
   • Prioritizing requirements based on impact and obtaining alignment
   • Managing overall program delivery involving relevant IT, internal delivery teams (e.g., design), vendors, and external stakeholders
   • Facilitating decision-making and sign-offs from Business and Control stakeholders
   • Ensuring project stabilization and establishment of BAU (Business As Usual) roles
   • Tracking expected impact and facilitating benefits sign-off

3. Group Digital Office Led:
   These programs propose changes driven by Digital leadership. The role is pivotal in cultivating buy-in from business and finance stakeholders, especially at initial stages. Key responsibilities include:

   • Leading and supporting primary and secondary research to grasp the problem context
   • Conducting diagnostics to understand the current situation
   • Designing the ideal high-level end state and gaining buy-in
   • Translating the ideal end state into high-level requirements
   • Identifying benefit levers and cost drivers
   • Collaborating with business and delivery teams on high-level benefits and costs (business case)
   • Building confidence and securing budget approvals for business cases

Experience Required

• 5+ years in top-tier management consulting
• 8-10 years in a digital transformation/business projects/product team within a large organization (not IT project leads; focusing on the business/techno-functional side)
• 10-15 years on the business side within financial services

Knowledge and Skills

• Problem Solving: Experience leading solution design project execution for at least 5 large-scale/high-impact programs, demonstrating:
  • Problem structuring skills to create frameworks for diagnostics, solution design, and requirement gathering
  • Hypothesis generation and the identification of data requirements
  • Comprehensive data gathering and analysis abilities
  • Synthesis of findings and analyses
• Communication Skills: At least 3-4 years preparing presentations for VP/SVP-level audiences, including:
  • Clear verbal communication with the ability to manage challenging stakeholders
  • Proficient written communication, including storylining presentations and creating project documents
  • Influencing skills at the functional/department head level
• Digital Transformation and Operations: Understanding of various digital transformation technologies such as GenAI, RPA, IPA, RDA, Machine Learning, Big Data Analytics, chatbots, NLP/NLG, and the ability to determine suitable applications for given problems
• Project Management: Proven experience in leading project management for at least 3 large-scale/high-impact programs and supporting 5+ projects, including:
  • Tactical planning and execution to manage project timelines
  • Focus on key impact levers and desire for significant outcomes

4. Strengthen collaboration across business and control functions:

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field
• Relevant banking or professional certification is preferred
• Ongoing professional development in banking regulation, risk management, and digital methodologies.
