We are looking for an experienced, motivated, and technically proficient Senior Researcher to contribute to the development of materials solutions for renewable energy, specifically in solar PV applications. This role involves managing process development activities, conducting material characterizations, and utilizing design of experiment and statistical process control tools to enhance process effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and contribute to the development, optimization, and scaling up of thin film solar PV materials and device fabrication processes.
  • Conduct in-depth material characterization, including optical analysis (UV-Vis, PL), structural analysis (TEM, SEM, XRD), thin film characterization, and electrical characterization.
  • Utilize design of experiment and statistical process control tools (JMP, Origin, Minitab, etc.) to analyze and optimize process performance.
  • Collaborate with technicians and vendors to maintain and optimize lab equipment.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to transition new materials/processes from lab-scale to pilot-scale.
  • Focus on continuous improvement and innovation, ensuring process stability and scalability.
  • Collaborate with external partners to drive innovation and accelerate project milestones.
  • Provide mentorship to junior researchers and technicians.
  • Write technical reports, draft patent applications, and present results to stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

  • PhD in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of R&D experience in materials and process development, specifically in solar photovoltaic devices.
  • Hands-on experience with thin film deposition techniques (sputtering, thermal evaporation, CVD, ALD).
  • Strong expertise in optical characterization techniques (e.g., UV-Vis, PL) and structural characterization techniques (SEM, XRD).
  • Proficiency in design of experiment and statistical analysis tools (JMP, Origin, Minitab, etc.).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, adaptability, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in solar PV technology commercialization or scale-up.
  • Programming skills for data analysis, process optimization, or automation.
  • Experience with simulation tools for thin film design and performance prediction.

At TII, we strive to address society's biggest challenges through scientific discovery and collaboration with leading international institutions, facilitating breakthroughs in advanced materials, autonomous robotics, and more.
