At the Design and Evaluation Research Center (DERC), we are looking for an RF Engineer to integrate with the Signals, Acoustics & Electronics (SEA) team. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, developing, and testing RF circuits used by the team. Responsibilities include:

  • Designing and building RF-test fixtures for small batch products
  • Designing and executing RF test plans for new and existing products
  • Operating and maintaining RF test equipment such as spectrum analyzers and network analyzers
  • Maintaining existing legacy software, test fixtures, and test equipment (fault finding to component level)
  • Developing and implementing automated tests for RF calibration
  • Troubleshooting and resolving RF performance issues
  • Automating test data analysis and generating detailed reports
  • Participating in design reviews and providing feedback on testability
  • Collaborating effectively with project team members

Skills Required:

  • 5 or more years of experience working in product-based test/manufacturing facilities
  • Experience in lab environments and test facilities
  • Ability to read and understand circuit schematics and diagrams
  • Experience debugging PCBs down to the component level
  • SMT soldering and rework experience
  • DIY attitude for creating and maintaining tools and fixtures
  • Familiarity with 3D printing and laser cutting is ideal
  • Basic CAD experience (Fusion 360, SolidWorks, etc.)
  • Experience in testing RF systems such as Beamformers and GPS receivers
  • Proficiency in testing RF circuits in S, L, C, and X bands
  • Experience in Python or MATLAB to develop automation scripts
  • Laboratory measurement experience using instruments such as VNA, spectrum analyzer, and oscilloscope
  • Demonstrated ability to perform advanced RF characterization and measurement, such as EVM measurement and large signal S-parameter measurement of power amplifiers
  • Strong communication skills for working in a multicultural research team

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, or related fields
  • Effective oral and written communication skills for teamwork
