We are seeking a Senior Ruby on Rails Engineer to join our fast-growing AI technology company's R&D/Engineering team. This is a hands-on individual contributor role where you will design, build, and scale core applications. You will collaborate closely with the CTO, Tech Lead, Product Managers, and Site Reliability Engineers (SREs). Please note that the company's products involve adult/NSFW content, so candidates must be fully comfortable working on them.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design, develop and maintain scalable backend applications using Ruby on Rails
- Collaborate with Product Managers to review requirements and translate specifications into technical solutions
- Prepare technical integration plans, development breakdowns, and effort estimates
- Implement new features and improve existing platform functionality
- Write clean, maintainable, well-tested production code
- Take part in pull requests, peer code reviews, and testing
- Troubleshoot application issues and improve reliability, performance, and scalability
- Contribute to technical decision-making and product roadmap discussions
- Experiment with technologies and approaches that improve product functionality and user experience
- Work with distributed engineering, infrastructure, and product teams
Requirements:
- 5+ years' commercial experience as a Backend or Full-Stack Software Engineer
- Strong, recent hands-on Ruby on Rails experience in production
- Ability to independently design and implement complex backend features
- Experience on applications serving thousands or more monthly active users, with an understanding of building reliable, scalable systems
- Experience in technology scale-ups, startups, or similarly agile environments, comfortable with changing priorities and tight deadlines
- Proven ability to take features from requirements through development, testing, and production
- Excellent spoken and written English, and comfortable working with international remote teams
- Based in Europe, with CET ±3 hours working overlap
- Fully comfortable working on AI companionship products involving uncensored and NSFW content
