Senior Service Engineer

As a Senior Service Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in executing retrofit upgrades, system extensions, and modifications for Substation Automation systems, while delivering Service Level Agreement (SLA) programs. You will lead assignments of medium to high complexity, ensuring all project activities are completed efficiently, cost-effectively, and fully aligned with contractual obligations, quality standards, and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Represent the Service Engineering function in project and customer meetings, contributing to the development of project execution philosophies and plans, ensuring their effective implementation.
• Serve as a key technical interface with customers, ensuring the company is consistently presented as a professional and trusted partner.
• Execute engineering activities such as design, manufacturing, system integrations, factory testing, and support in site implementations in accordance with approved processes to ensure on-time, on-quality, and on-cost delivery.
• Develop HMI configurations and system databases according to project specifications.
• Coordinate with customers and external entities to finalize design concepts, documents, acceptance criteria, resolve open items, and complete acceptance testing activities.
• Prepare project documentation such as Panel Drawings, System Architecture, Signal Lists, Functional Description, Component Configuration Documents, Project schedules, FAT & SAT procedures, Method of Statement (MoS), Risk Assessments (RA), Site Visit Reports, Incident Reports, and Root Cause Analyses (RCA), in coordination with team leads and project managers.
• Ensure strict compliance with internal processes, external regulations, cybersecurity requirements, and safety protocols.
• Manage external partners providing equipment or services, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and quality requirements.
• Actively mentor and support colleagues, fostering a culture of technical excellence and collaboration.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, Power Systems, Automation, or a related field.
• 6–10 years of experience as an SCMS engineer with proven design, testing, and commissioning expertise.
• Strong command of Substation Automation Systems, including communication protocols such as IEC 101, IEC 104, IEC 61850, LON, SPA, Modbus, and others.
• Advanced proficiency with the company MicroSCADA and RTU systems, as well as IEDs from various manufacturers.
• Hands-on experience with engineering tools like MS Office, Visio, IET, ITT, PCM, MiCOM, DIGSI, and related applications.
• Solid understanding of substation control logic, interlocking schemes, and power system operational principles.
• Intermediate knowledge of OT cybersecurity standards, practices, solutions (Firewall, NIDS, WSUS, RADIUS Configuration) and testing methodologies.
• Willingness to travel 20% to customer sites.
• Analytical and problem-solving mindset, with the ability to identify and mitigate risks and challenges.
• Proficiency in both spoken & written English is required.
