We are hiring a Senior Site Reliability / Gitops Engineer to join our Information Systems (IS) team. This position is designed for an automation-first senior technologist who has a passion for Linux and aims to drive success with Ubuntu and open-source products. The role involves developing automation solutions for IT operations, implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and working with a talented team to enhance Canonical's technology offerings.
Responsibilities:
- Develop automation and Gitops practices in your team as an embedded tech lead.
- Collaborate closely with the IS architect to align solutions with the IS architecture vision.
- Architect services that IS can offer as products.
- Use IaC to develop best practices within IS by increasing automation and improving IaC processes.
- Automate software operations for greater efficiency across both private and public clouds.
- Maintain operational responsibility for Canonical's core services, networks, and infrastructure.
- Provide troubleshooting, capacity planning, and performance investigation support.
- Share expertise and best practices with team members through mentorship and collaboration.
What We Are Looking For:
- Experience with modern hosting architecture driven by infrastructure as code.
- A product mindset with a focus on developing products rather than mere solutions.
- Python software development experience, particularly with large projects.
- Knowledge of Kubernetes or other container orchestration systems.
- Proven ability to manage and deploy cloud infrastructure using code.
- Practical understanding of Linux networking, storage, and firewalls.
- Experience administering enterprise Linux servers.
- Bachelor’s degree or greater in computer science or a related field.
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
- Enthusiasm for troubleshooting and learning new technologies.
- A passion for open source, especially Ubuntu or Debian.
