We are currently seeking a Senior Site Reliability / Gitops Engineer for our Information Systems (IS) team. This position is suited for an "automation-first" technologist with a passion for Linux to build a successful career with the company and drive success for users leveraging Ubuntu and open source products.
The IS team supports and maintains all of the company's IT production services, which are utilized by over 60 million Ubuntu users. As a Senior SRE & Gitops Engineer, you will advance operations automation both in our private and public clouds by utilizing open source infrastructure as code and best software development practices such as CI/CD pipelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of automation and Gitops within your team.
- Collaborate with the IS architect to align solutions with architectural goals.
- Design and architect services that can be offered as products.
- Develop infrastructure as code practices within IS, enhancing automation and improving IaC processes.
- Automate software operations for consistency across clouds, considering distributed systems' complexities.
- Maintain operational responsibility for all core services, networks, and infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot and plan capacity while employing observability tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.
- Share experience and best practices with team members through design sessions and mentorship.
Requirements:
- Modern hosting architecture experience, driven by infrastructure as code for both private and public clouds.
- Strong product mindset focused on product development.
- Proficiency in Python software development with experience in large projects.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes or other container orchestration systems.
- Proven experience managing and deploying cloud infrastructure with code.
- Practical knowledge of Linux networking, routing, and firewalls.
- Experience with various forms of Linux storage.
- Hands-on experience administering enterprise Linux servers.
- Extensive knowledge of cloud computing technologies.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or a related field.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English across various platforms.
