About the role
As a software engineer, you will be responsible for the systems that enhance the operations of our DMart network, which includes over 860 dark stores and 31 distribution centers across eight MENA markets. You will work within a cross-functional team comprising engineering, product, and data specialists, contributing from discovery through to delivery and beyond. Your focus will be on understanding and addressing customer and business needs while delivering software solutions that drive value in small batches, adhering to our engineering standards.

Responsibilities
- Own the design, development, and release of software solutions that address end-to-end problems within your business domain.
- Collaborate with your cross-functional team to continuously discover and assess customer/business needs, driving targeted outcomes.
- Ensure deep understanding of the scalability and complexity of your services, taking ownership of the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Mentor and inspire fellow engineers, optimizing team practices to evolve into a self-organizing, continuously improving unit.
- Critically evaluate and simplify existing technology organization systems, processes, and solutions.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should have:

- Understanding of lean/agile values, principles, and associated practices.
- Experience mentoring other engineers.
- At least 5 years of software engineering experience, preferably within an Extreme Programming environment utilizing TDD, Pair Programming, Simple Design, and Continuous Refactoring, with a focus on languages such as .NET, Golang, and C#.
- Proficiency in testing, emphasizing automated end-to-end quality.
- Experience in Distributed Systems Architecture (Microservices, Event-Driven, RESTful Services).
- Familiarity with relational and non-relational databases.
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
- Experience with Trunk Based Development and Continuous Delivery.

Contract and Travel Details
- This is a full-time position.
- Location may require occasional travel between sites within the MENA region as necessary.
