We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer who is backend-leaning but comfortable across the full stack. The role is approximately 80% backend / 20% frontend, focusing on commercially important systems including:
- Payment and billing integrations
- Data models and ingestion pipelines
- Retry, orchestration, and reconciliation systems
- Payment recovery infrastructure
- Machine-learning experiments and performance analysis
- Email and push notification workflows
- Internal tools and customer-facing product
You will own projects end to end — from understanding the problem and designing the solution to implementation and production. This role requires someone who can take a business or technical objective and independently make good architectural decisions to ship reliable solutions.

AI
AI is heavily utilized in development. You might work with tools such as Cursor, Codex, Claude Code, or similar to accelerate your implementation. However, AI should not replace engineering judgment. You must be able to:
- Understand and architect the problem before coding
- Review and validate AI-generated code
- Explain your technical decisions
- Understand how your code fits into the broader system
- Anticipate failure modes and edge cases
You own the problem and the outcome; AI helps you move faster.
Required
- 4+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Strong backend engineering skills with full-stack capability
- Experience independently owning and shipping production systems
- Strong system design and technical judgment
- Ability to work effectively with APIs, databases, integrations, and production systems
- Comfortable making decisions with incomplete information
- Strong English communication skills
- Experience using AI effectively in your development workflow
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Python / Next.js / React / PostgreSQL
- Background in payments, fintech, billing, or subscription infrastructure
- Familiarity with third-party integrations
- Experience with data ingestion or reconciliation systems
- Previous involvement in early-stage startups
How We Work
We are a small, distributed engineering team. Our workflow includes regular two-week sprints using Linear, with sprint reviews and code reviews led by the Head of Engineering. We care about deliverables, not hours or screenshots. International candidates should have approximately 4–6 hours of overlap with the US team, particularly in US Pacific/Central time.
