About the Role
The role is responsible for several Java-related duties throughout the software development lifecycle, from concept and design to testing. The individual will create user information solutions through the development, implementation, and maintenance of Java-based components and interfaces. Closely collaborating with Business Analysts and Product Owners, the individual will refine user stories and requirements, and identify, prioritize, and execute tasks within the software development life cycle. Additionally, mentoring junior developers and working independently and proactively will be essential aspects of this role.

Responsibilities
- Work with Business & Product teams to determine their needs and develop the appropriate software to meet those requirements.
- Plan and execute all deployments of system features and monitor for successful integration, maintaining the system throughout its lifecycle.
- Lead the design and architecture of software systems.
- Conduct testing of completed code modules with the assistance of junior Java developers.
- Assist other developers with troubleshooting, debugging, and coding.
- Manage project timelines and deliverables.
- Guide and mentor teams of developers.
- Interface with stakeholders to understand business requirements.
- Review codes to ensure quality and adherence to standards.
- Drive innovation and stay updated with the latest industry trends.
- Contribute to strategic decisions about technology and implementation of software products.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the line manager related to the nature of the work.
- Enforce, incorporate, and comply with all necessary controls and related information security policies and procedures within departmental/unit activities and operations.
Preferred Qualifications
- A tertiary-level qualification from an internationally recognized institution.
Years & Nature of Experience
- Recommended 5 to 7 years of equivalent experience demonstrating required competencies in a Software Developer role, primarily focusing on Java technologies.
- Working knowledge of relational database concepts and SQL beyond simple queries.
- Experienced in a full software development life cycle environment under Agile methodologies, capable of leading software design and implementing best practices (Unit Testing, Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration, Source Control policies, among others).
- A specialist individual contributor or a team lead who has managed and delivered projects.
- Possesses team or technical supervision skills.
- Demonstrated expertise and experience with complex technical activities.
- Has worked with more senior staff and dealt with complex issues, larger clients, accounts, projects, or internal relationships.
