About the Role:
Our Technology team creates the systems and experiences that drive the company forward. We are searching for a Senior Observability Platform Engineer who will create a platform to monitor thousands of applications, databases, and systems. You will provide crucial information about logging, metrics, and tracing that our engineering teams will depend on. Your contributions will help optimize applications, resolve incidents swiftly, and reduce friction in usage and onboarding processes.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Designing, implementing, and assembling scalable observability solutions across logs, metrics, and traces.
- Building robust APIs and data pipelines to manage observability data.
- Collaborating with product teams to integrate effective monitoring and debugging solutions.
- Optimizing the observability infrastructure for performance and user experience.
- Developing tools to automate onboarding and data collection for the observability platform.
- Contributing to the strategic roadmap of the observability platform by identifying and implementing new features.
What You'll Need:
- 7+ years of experience as a software engineer, with at least 3 years in observability platforms or distributed systems.
- Familiarity with monitoring, alerting, and incident response best practices.
- Expertise in designing and implementing APIs and data pipelines for real-time data ingestion.
- Understanding of distributed systems and their observability challenges.
- Hands-on experience with core observability tools, such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, Jaeger, and OpenTelemetry.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and infrastructure as code tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform).
- Proficiency in Python as your primary engineering language.
Nice to Have:
- Previous experience in a DevOps, SRE, or developer experience role.
- Experience with multiple cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and their native observability services.
- Contributions to open-source observability projects.
- A track record of prototyping and developing innovative solutions to complex problems.
