The Senior Software Engineer - Java Backend (Microservices) is a fully participating member of an agile feature team, responsible for software development, problem resolution, technical design, implementation, and maintenance of software solutions that support the Emirates Group Business.
In this role, you will:
- Work with senior technical engineers in the technical design process by contributing to analyzing technical application requirements.
- Convert technical solutions for small to medium-sized initiatives into low-level design and working code.
- Independently write secure and optimized code by implementing Emirates Group-approved coding standards.
- Participate in rotational on-call support and actively participate in resolving production issues within SLAs with minimal or no active supervision.
- Ensure built-in quality, aiming for 100% unit testing as part of the CI/CD pipeline.
- Analyze and fix all identified defects with minimal rework.
- Ensure refactoring practices are adequately adopted to minimize code debt.
- Implement logging and monitoring hooks in code development.
- Continuously stay current with the relevant technologies and implement learnings to enhance code quality.
- Adhere to the Emirates Group IT coding standards, guidelines, and best practices, contributing to Software Engineering Playbooks and standards documents.
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following requirements:
- Degree in Computer Science, Computational Mathematics, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering with 3+ years of experience in Information Technology.
- Certification in Full Stack Developer/UI Experts.
- Software Engineering experience, preferably in agile methodologies.
- Experience with the following technologies:
- Java 17 or above
- Java Reactive programming
- Microservices
- Spring Boot
- Event-driven programming (Solace)
- Couchbase / Maria DB
Knowledge/Skills:
- Design & Develop software in an enterprise environment.
- Solid understanding of testing concepts such as unit testing, functional testing, and test automation.
- Experience in resolving a variety of issues using technical expertise.
- Strong skills in system design tools and agile software development.
- Strong analytical systems and technical design skills.
