Expectations
The role requires a technical leader who can transition to owning end-to-end outcomes, planning projects, and making critical technical decisions independently. You will act as a "force multiplier," coaching junior developers, refining code quality, and explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Your responsibilities will include:
- Technical Leadership & Architecture:
- Leading system design in your domain by creating high-level and low-level technical specifications and evaluating system architectures for security, reliability, and scalability.
- Participating in the technology selection process by evaluating frameworks and tools for projects.
- Enforcing best practices by maintaining engineering standards regarding code quality, automated testing, and CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment).
- Mentorship & Team Guidance:
- Providing constructive feedback and coaching to junior and mid-level engineers for career growth.
- Reviewing code submitted by team members to identify bugs, improve performance, and ensure adherence to standards.
- Project & Task Management:
- Breaking down complex features into actionable tasks and establishing realistic timelines and resource estimates.
- Identifying and mitigating technical risks before they impact product delivery.
- Contributing to identifying and resolving technical debt backlog.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Translating technical concepts into business terms for non-technical stakeholders, product managers, and executive management.
- Collaborating with various departments to ensure software solutions meet market and user demands.
- Problem Solving & Maintenance:
- Diagnosing root causes of difficult software issues and building practical, permanent solutions.
- Refactoring and optimizing existing legacy codebases to enhance performance and maintainability.
Qualifications
To excel in this role, you should have:
- Strong fundamentals of software development and computer sciences.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language used at the company.
- Strong understanding of relational and non-relational databases.
- Proficiency with cloud infrastructure.
- Ability to design large-scale, resilient, and secure software architectures.
