This role is part of the Consumer Mobile team, which builds the app, the interface millions of people use to interact with their money. As the team expands into Asia, you will work on a new app specifically tailored for Asian users. The opportunity
- Build and own high-quality React Native features from end to end, addressing ambiguous client problems and overseeing solution design through implementation, launch, measurement, and iteration.
- Collaborate closely with Product and Design teams to create thoughtful, responsive, and trustworthy financial experiences that include product discovery, trading, and simplified client journeys.
- Work with APIs and dynamic or real-time data, making strategic decisions on state management, rendering, performance, architecture, and reliability.
- Elevate the product-engineering standards through technical discussions, code reviews, collaboration, strong product ownership, and adapting to both product and technical challenges.
- Act as a subject-matter expert on regional UX and design expectations, provide practical approaches to challenges around firewall and connectivity restrictions, and recommend appropriate vendors and tooling, such as telemetry solutions for the new app for Asian markets.
What You Bring
- Strong React Native experience, including a track record of shipping meaningful production applications and making sound architectural and implementation decisions in a modern mobile codebase.
- A product-building mindset with strong product judgment; adept at identifying client problems, simplifying requirements when needed, and translating loosely defined issues into measurable product outcomes.
- End-to-end feature ownership, utilizing metrics, experimentation, and client feedback to continuously improve delivered features.
- Experience in building responsive, data-rich applications using APIs and dynamic or real-time data, with effective collaboration with Product and Design teams, including in written and verbal English.
- Versatility and thoughtful use of AI tools; comfortable taking on multiple roles while using tools like Cursor, Copilot, or Claude to enhance productivity without sacrificing engineering quality.
- Proven experience in building and shipping consumer mobile applications for Asian markets, with a deep understanding of the region’s UX/design conventions, technical limitations, and successful navigation of launch challenges including firewall and connectivity issues.
Nice to haves
- Experience in fintech, trading, crypto, payments, or other financial technology environments with a sound understanding of trading, investing, or financial products.
- Familiarity with real-time or streaming data, and enhancing mobile application performance, responsiveness, and reliability across devices.
- Experience in both mobile and web environments or within startups or small-to-medium-sized tech companies where collaboration with Product and Design is emphasized.
- Native mobile development experience in Swift or Kotlin, with the judgment to work below the React Native layer when appropriate.
- Proficiency in Chinese, such as Mandarin, or another Asian language.
