Job Description
As Senior Engineering Manager, you will lead multiple engineering teams (typically 4 squads, ~20 engineers) across a single technical domain. Your responsibilities include:
- Domain-level Technical Strategy: Collaborate with product leadership to define a 12–18 month technical vision for your domain.
- Team Health and Growth: Foster an environment for engineer development through hiring, mentoring, and creating psychological safety.
- Delivery Excellence: Manage your teams through discovery, planning, and execution with a focus on small-batch delivery and continuous feedback.
- Business Impact: Translate product objectives into technical solutions and communicate the impact of your domain’s work.
- Cross-functional Leadership: Collaborate closely with product, design, and business partners to drive alignment.
- Technical Decision-Making: Guide your teams on system design, architecture, and engineering practices while maintaining standards for scalability, security, and performance.
Qualifications
- Leadership & People Management: 4+ years of hands-on technical leadership experience managing engineering teams; demonstrated ability to hire, mentor, and grow engineers; emotional intelligence and comfort with cross-functional leadership are essential.
- Technical Depth: 8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience; deep understanding of distributed systems, backend systems, or web-scale infrastructure; familiarity with XP practices is beneficial.
- Engineering Sense: Ability to consider non-functional requirements such as scalability, reliability, and security; experience with trade-offs between speed and technical debt.
Nice-to-Haves:
Experience in a high-growth environment, exposure to XP practices, background in marketplace or logistics optimization, and familiarity with modern cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
Language Requirements:
Fluency in English is preferred.
