You will lead the Marketplace Matching team of engineers across different engineering sites, supporting Careem Rides, Food, Groceries, and Express verticals by optimizing the matching of mobility supply and demand. You will collaborate with engineering leaders across Careem to address engineering challenges and opportunities.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Lead a team of software engineers in implementing high-quality services including design, development, and deployment of new business functionality.
- Build processes to ensure effective and efficient team delivery.
- Enhance ways of working within the team.
- Collaborate with Product Managers and Data Scientists to fulfill the product roadmap.
- Allocate resources to meet operating objectives.
- Share information to improve cross-departmental processes with teammates, customers, and peers.
- Assist teams in developing roadmaps for system and product growth, identifying, planning, and executing projects to support that growth.
- Coach developers to improve their skills and grow their careers.
- Solve large-scale engineering challenges.
- Encourage and support others to take on responsibility, authority, and accountability.
Qualifications:
- Strong software engineering skills with competencies in data structures, algorithms, software design, and OOP.
- Working knowledge of at least one of the following: Java, GO, Python, Kotlin.
- Deep understanding of how to build scalable distributed systems.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent training, fellowship, or work experience.
- Several years of experience in an engineering management role.
- Ability to run and improve technical development processes.
- Relevant experience in logistics marketplace matching, including cost functions, platformization, batching, and pooling.
Work Conditions:
- Work 4 days a week in the office & 1 day from home, with the possibility of working remotely from any country for 30 days a year.
