Senior Solutions Architect - AWS (Presales)

About the Role
The company is seeking a Senior Solutions Architect – AWS (Presales) to join its KSA presales team in Riyadh. This role serves as a senior technical lead, working directly with CIOs, CTOs, CISOs, and other senior stakeholders across large enterprises and government organizations. The successful candidate will own the technical lifecycle of AWS opportunities, from initial discovery and architecture through RFP/RFQ responses, commercial support, solution presentation, and handover to delivery. This is an AWS-first presales role requiring strong hands-on architecture expertise, commercial awareness, and the ability to communicate complex technical solutions to executive audiences. The architect will be expected to challenge requirements where appropriate, develop compelling business cases and TCO models, address security and regulatory considerations, and design scalable AWS solutions across migration, modernization, containers, disaster recovery, data, and GenAI.

Key Responsibilities
AWS Solution Architecture & Technical Leadership

• Own the technical solution for AWS opportunities from discovery through proposal and handover to delivery.
• Design secure, scalable, highly available AWS architectures across migration, modernization, networking, security, databases, containers, DR, data, and GenAI.
• Lead architecture discussions and technical decision-making with senior customer stakeholders.

Presales, RFP & Proposal Management

• Lead technical responses to RFPs, RFQs, tenders, and customer requirements.
• Interpret requirements, identify gaps, raise clarification questions, and develop solution narratives and compliance matrices.
• Prepare Bills of Materials (BoMs), sizing, pricing inputs, and technical content while coordinating with AWS, partners, sales, and delivery teams.
• Ensure high-quality technical submissions are delivered within demanding deadlines.

Customer Workshops & Executive Engagement

• Lead technical workshops, discovery sessions, architecture reviews, and solution presentations.
• Engage confidently with CIOs, CTOs, CISOs, enterprise architects, and technical decision-makers.
• Present complex AWS concepts in a clear business-oriented manner and challenge customer assumptions when required.
• Handle technical and commercial objections, including AWS vs. Azure/Oracle/on-premises and solution cost concerns.

Cloud Migration, Containers & Modernization

• Design AWS migration and modernization strategies, including VM migration, application modernization, and container adoption.
• Develop Amazon EKS and/or ECS architectures covering cluster design, networking, security, scalability, and CI/CD integration.
• Define Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform, AWS CDK, and/or CloudFormation.
• Demonstrate the business and technical value of moving workloads from traditional infrastructure to cloud-native platforms.

Security, Compliance, DR & Cost Optimization

• Design resilient AWS architectures using multi-AZ and multi-region patterns aligned with business RTO/RPO requirements.
• Develop DR solutions using services such as AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery and AWS Backup, including backup and restore, pilot light, warm standby, and active-active approaches.
• Address KSA regulatory and compliance requirements, including NCA ECC/CCC, SAMA CSF, and PDPL considerations.
• Develop credible AWS cost estimates, TCO models, and DR cost-versus-RTO/RPO trade-offs for customer approval.

AWS Partnership & Deal Collaboration

• Work closely with AWS account teams, the company sales leaders, delivery engineers, and technology partners to develop and win opportunities.
• Leverage AWS partner programs such as Migration Acceleration Program (MAP), funding programs, and ACE co-sell to accelerate opportunities.
• Support commercial negotiations by providing technical justification, sizing, architecture assumptions, and cost models.
• Ensure successful transition of won opportunities from presales into delivery.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in infrastructure, cloud, software engineering, solutions architecture, or related technology roles.
• Proven experience in AWS presales, consulting, solution architecture, RFP/RFQ responses, and executive-level presentations.
• Strong expertise across core AWS services, including AWS networking, IAM and security, AWS Control Tower and landing zones, AWS databases, Migration and modernization services.
• Strong hands-on experience with Amazon EKS and/or ECS, including cluster architecture, networking, security, scaling, and CI/CD integration.
• Strong Infrastructure as Code capabilities using Terraform and/or AWS CDK/CloudFormation.
• Proven experience designing AWS disaster recovery solutions using AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery, AWS Backup, Multi-AZ and multi-region architectures, Backup and restore, Pilot light, Warm standby, Active-active architectures.
• Strong understanding of defining and defending RTO/RPO requirements with business and technical stakeholders.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to defend architecture decisions under pressure.
• Hands-on experience with Amazon Bedrock and Generative AI solutions.
• Familiarity with KSA regulatory frameworks, including NCA ECC/CCC, SAMA CSF, and PDPL.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) for multi-cloud discussions.
• Experience working with large enterprises and/or government organizations in the GCC.
• Fluent Arabic and English, both written and spoken, with the ability to conduct presentations, workshops, negotiations, and proposal writing in both languages.
• Active AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional certification.
• Additional AWS Professional or Specialty certifications, such as:
  • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional
  • AWS Certified Security – Specialty
  • AWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty
  • AWS Certified Data or Machine Learning certifications.
