You will be the senior technologist who turns the company’s world-class AM capabilities into fieldable solutions for our propulsion systems. Reporting to the Division Manager and sitting on the leadership team, you will own the technology roadmap, steer application engineering sprints from concept to TRL 6-7 prototypes, and mentor a multi-disciplinary group of engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a 3-year AM technology & application roadmap linked to the company’s priorities and TRL/MRL gates.
- Run design-for-AM (DfAM) sprints with the internal design team: requirement capture, topology/lattice studies, cost-benefit model.
- Provide authoritative design and process guidance; review high-risk build files, post-processing protocols and qualification test plans.
- Identify patentable inventions, manage invention disclosures and coordinate filings with Legal.
- Ensure all application programmes follow the necessary standards and certifications. Track schedule, budget, and risk.
Mandatory Qualifications
- M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Mechanical, Materials, Aerospace or related engineering discipline.
- 5+ years in additive manufacturing or advanced product development, with 2+ years at Principal/Lead level driving technology strategy and leading cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated mastery of metal AM (PBF-LB, EBM, DED or WAAM) and polymer/composite AM, including process qualification and certification pathways.
- Track record of mentoring engineers and influencing executives.
Desired Skills
- Familiarity with PLM/MES tools and data-lake architectures for in-situ monitoring.
- Knowledge of patent landscaping, and tech-transfer agreements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; able to brief senior military audiences.
