The Prototype Testing Specialist is responsible for creating and testing prototypes, inspecting initial production pieces, and supporting the development of technical solutions. This role involves technical documentation, process testing for quality assurance, and collaboration with various departments. The ideal candidate will have a technical background, proficiency in English, and experience in engineering or manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of IEC-61439 & IEC-60529 standards related to switchgear.
  • Produce associated documentation with the testing of the panel in detail.
  • Use test equipment such as a dielectric tester, multi-meter, IR tester, etc.
  • Maintain safe working practices and adhere to quality control & safety procedures at all times.
  • Travel to sites to diagnose and fix issues with panels.
  • Build strong customer relationships and confidently demonstrate testing in the presence of the end customer.
  • Accurately read and interpret electrical drawings and instructions, both written and verbal (from the supervisor and team members).
  • Carry out testing and inspection on finished switchgear panels on the shop floor and customer premises, meeting approved standards and customer requirements.
  • Send a panel to site with 100% confidence that it fits within specifications and functions as stated.
  • Perform and host Factory Acceptance Tests and Site Acceptance Tests in the presence of end customers.
  • Adhere to and actively improve quality control processes and test procedures by providing feedback to the supervisor.
  • Travel to customer sites to support installation as required.
  • Provide a high level of customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Exhibit excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills, with the ability to manage changing priorities and work proactively to tight timelines.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Utilize strong problem-solving skills.
  • Possess excellent communication skills, with the capacity to communicate at all levels.
  • Flexibility to work extended and/or unsocial hours as required by the role.
  • Adhere to the company's Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Policy.

  • Ensure 100% compliance with personal protective equipment (PPE) when on the shop floor.
  • Honestly report any illnesses or other issues during induction.
  • Avoid wearing jewelry or loose clothing while inside the shop floor.
  • Cooperate with employer initiatives to comply with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements.
  • Take reasonable care for their own health and safety and that of others affected by their actions.
  • Be familiar with emergency equipment such as Fire Alarm Call Points and Fire Extinguishers.
  • Have full knowledge of Emergency Assembly Procedures.
  • Coordinate with production supervisors or Safety Officers to address observed health and safety issues.
  • Refrain from performing other activities until assigned responsibilities are given by the manager.

Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • University or high school degree in a technical field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the switchgear industry.

Additional/Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in English: Ability to communicate and work in English.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office; Oracle experience is an advantage.

Physical & Environmental Requirements

  • 6 working days per week.
