We are hiring a Site Reliability Engineering Manager to tackle a world-class DevOps and GitOps engineering management challenge. This role combines operations management, software engineering, product development, and team leadership. The successful candidate will need to be an expert in Linux and operations, capable of leading a high-performance team.

The Information Systems team at Canonical runs services for over 60 million Ubuntu users, aiming to redefine large-scale information systems. The role involves working with cutting-edge technology in a fast-paced environment, enforcing best practices of infrastructure as code, and automating critical processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the team in daily agile DevOps practices
  • Represent the Information Systems team to stakeholders, customers, and internal teams
  • Organize and coordinate internal projects
  • Mentor engineers to enhance their skills
  • Measure and monitor team health indicators
  • Implement structured engineering and operations processes
  • Meet service-level agreements for global customer deployments
  • Deliver quality managed services consistently and punctually

Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of exceeding expectations and driving performance
  • Experience in software delivery using infrastructure as code
  • Proven experience managing DevOps teams for SaaS or similar offerings
  • Familiarity with testing methodologies and maintainable code quality
  • Strong understanding of complex distributed systems
  • Experience with cloud technologies and topologies
  • Ability to travel twice a year for company events lasting up to two weeks
  • Exceptional academic credentials from high school and university

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Experience with Ubuntu system administration
  • Familiarity with agile software development methodologies
  • Experience managing distributed teams
