Position

The company is a leading provider of open-source software and operating systems for enterprise and technology markets, with its platform Ubuntu widely used in initiatives such as public cloud, data science, AI, engineering innovation, and IoT. We are hiring a Site Reliability Engineering Manager to take on a world-class DevOps and GitOps engineering management challenge. This role combines operations management, software engineering, product development, and team leadership.

The Information Systems team at the company runs services used by over 60 million Ubuntu users. Our mission is to pioneer and prove new approaches to large-scale information systems. You will lead a team focused on delivering quality managed services globally while automating processes and sharing that automation as open source packages.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead your team in daily agile DevOps practices
  • Represent the Information Systems team to stakeholders and customers
  • Organize and drive internal projects
  • Mentor engineers to enhance their skills
  • Implement structured engineering and operations processes
  • Ensure the team meets service level agreements with customer deployments
  • Deliver managed services in a consistent, timely manner

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in software delivery with infrastructure as code
  • Experience managing DevOps teams for SaaS or similar offerings
  • Technical aptitude for understanding complex distributed systems
  • Ability to travel twice a year for company events up to two weeks long
  • An exceptional academic track record from both high school and university

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Experience with Ubuntu system administration
  • Familiarity with agile software development methodologies
  • Experience managing distributed teams

Work Conditions:

  • Fully remote role with teams distributed across EMEA, APAC, and the Americas
  • Travel requirement: Twice a year for company events
  • Compensation includes a performance-driven annual bonus and a personal learning and development budget of USD 2,000 per year.

Language Requirements:

  • Proficiency in English is expected due to the global nature of the team and customer base.
