We are hiring a Site Reliability Engineering Manager for a role that combines operations management, software engineering, product development, and team leadership.

The Information Systems team at the company runs services utilized by over 60 million Ubuntu users. Our mission is to innovate and prove new methodologies for large-scale information systems while supporting the company and Ubuntu operations. We aim to automate business processes and contribute to open-source packages that help other organizations in their own operations.

In this role, you will lead a team within your time zone and report to a global director. You will be responsible for:

  • Leading your team in daily agile devops practices
  • Representing the IS team to stakeholders, customers, and internal teams
  • Organizing and driving internal projects
  • Mentoring engineers to enhance their skills
  • Implementing structured engineering and operations processes
  • Ensuring team focus on priorities, milestones, and deliverables
  • Meeting service level agreements with customer deployments globally
  • Delivering quality managed services consistently and timely

Requirements

  • Proven experience in managing devops teams for SaaS or similar offerings.
  • Technical aptitude in understanding complex distributed systems.
  • Experience with software delivery using infrastructure as code.
  • Understanding of testing methodologies and maintainable code quality.
  • Ability to travel twice a year for company events.
  • An exceptional academic track record from high school and university.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with Ubuntu system administration.
  • Familiarity with agile software development methodologies.
  • Experience in managing distributed teams.
