The IS team at Canonical supports and maintains all of Canonical's IT production services, managing services used by over 60 million Ubuntu users. As an SRE & Gitops engineer, you will have the unique opportunity to drive operations automation to the next level in both private and public clouds, utilizing the best open-source infrastructure as code software and software development practices such as CI/CD.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and enhance infrastructure as code practices within IS by increasing automation and improving processes.
- Automate software operations for re-usability and consistency across clouds.
- Develop new features and improve the resilience and scalability of existing cloud and container portfolios.
- Maintain operational responsibility for all of Canonical's core services, networks, and infrastructure.
- Collaborate with development teams to design service architecture and operational procedures.
Qualifications:
- Deep experience in defining operations in code, using version control, peer review, and CI/CD methodologies.
- Strong engineering background with experience in Python software development.
- Practical knowledge of Linux networking, routing, and firewalls.
- Experience administering enterprise Linux servers and familiarity with cloud computing concepts.
- Bachelor's degree or greater in computer science or a related engineering field.
- Fluent in English with strong communication skills.
