As a Site Reliability / Gitops Engineer, you will join the Information Systems (IS) team responsible for supporting and maintaining all of Canonical's IT production services, which are used by over 60 million Ubuntu users.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to drive operations automation to the next level in both private and public cloud environments. Your tasks will involve utilizing open source infrastructure as code software, CI/CD practices, and leveraging Canonical's products for software operation automation. You will work closely with developers to provide feedback on product performance at scale and collaborate across teams to ensure the best possible services for Canonical’s customers and the Ubuntu Community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to enhance automation and processes within IS.
- Automate software operations for reusability and consistency across private and public clouds.
- Develop new features and improve the existing cloud and container portfolio for resilience and scalability.
- Maintain operational responsibility for Canonical's core services, networks, and infrastructure.
- Utilize observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and Elasticsearch for monitoring and alerting.
- Collaborate in designing service architectures, documentation, and operational procedures.
- Provide mentorship and share best practices with team members.
What We Are Looking For:
- Deep experience in defining operations as code using version control, peer review, and CI/CD.
- Strong engineering background, preferably with Python software development experience.
- Practical knowledge of Linux networking, routing, firewalls, and administration of enterprise Linux servers.
- Familiarity with cloud computing concepts and technologies.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or a related field.
- Clear and effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- Willingness to learn quickly and adapt to fast-changing environments.
- Passion for open-source technologies, especially Ubuntu or Debian.
