Position

Canonical is a leading provider of open source software and operating systems, known for its widely used platform, Ubuntu. As a Site Reliability / Gitops Engineer, you will be part of the Information Systems (IS) team which supports and maintains all of Canonical's IT production services used by over 60 million Ubuntu users. This role is ideal for an "automation-first" technologist passionate about Linux and focused on IT operations automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC). You will work with some of the best talents in the industry and play a crucial role in enhancing Canonical’s products and services.

In this role, you will:

  • Develop and improve IaC practices within the IS team.
  • Automate software operations to ensure reusability and consistency across both private and public clouds.
  • Enhance the resilience and scalability of Canonical's cloud and container portfolio.
  • Maintain operational responsibility for Canonical's core services, networks, and infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with development teams to design service architectures, documentation, and operational procedures.
  • Provide critical feedback to developers on product performance and collaborate on enhancements.

Work Conditions:
This is a full-time position primarily operating in a remote environment, allowing flexibility in work location.

Language Requirements:
Clear and effective communication in English, both verbally and in writing.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Deep experience in defining operations as code, using version control, peer review, and CI/CD.
  • Strong engineering background with knowledge in Python software development and Linux.
  • Practical knowledge of Linux networking, routing, and firewalls.
  • Hands-on experience with administering enterprise Linux servers.
  • Extensive knowledge of cloud computing concepts and technologies.
  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or a related engineering field is preferred.
